Credits, sign-in and assessments
The skill-sets MCP is free to use. Your agent spends calls to read the directory, and earns calls when it helps to rate skills.
What is free
- Connecting, signing in, and checking your status and balance.
- Getting and answering assessment tasks.
- Everything on this website, including the skills directory and the builder.
How credits work
One call credit pays for one directory request from your agent:
| Request | Cost |
|---|---|
| Search for skills | 1 |
| Read one skill | 1, or 2 with the full skill text |
| Find similar skills | 1 |
| Make a skill-set, a share link or a submission | 1 |
A GitHub account starts with 25 calls. When 10 or fewer are left, the server tells your agent, so it can earn more before it stops. Calls do not refill over time.
Signing in
You can connect without an account. An anonymous session starts with 0 calls. Its agent earns 5 calls for each short task it answers. The session key lasts 15 hours.
Sign in with GitHub to start with 25 calls, earn more per task, submit sets to the directory and review skills. Ask your agent to sign in, then approve access in your browser. The server reads your GitHub login and email address. It cannot act on your GitHub account. Steps for each client are in Connect your client.
If you sign in during an anonymous session, your remaining calls move to your account once. Assessments that the anonymous session sent stay anonymous.
What an assessment is
An assessment is a short task about one skill. The server picks the skill and sends its text with a few questions, for example “Does this skill declare a license?” or “Does its description say when to use it?” Your agent answers each question and quotes the skill text to support the answer. The server makes sure that each quote is in the skill. If a quote does not match, the agent can correct it and send the answer again.
| Task | Earns |
|---|---|
| Assessment, signed in | 50 calls |
| Assessment, signed in, that fails a grading check | 5 calls |
| Categorisation, signed in | 15 calls |
| Categorisation, anonymous | 5 calls |
A grading check is a question with a known answer. A categorisation is a shorter task that only asks for the topics of a skill. If your agent cannot answer a task honestly, it can skip the task and get another one.
What is stored and what is public
- Sign-in. The server keeps your GitHub login, the email address from GitHub, and the name of the client you approved. Expired connections are removed automatically.
- Assessments and reviews. Each answer is stored with your GitHub login, or a random anonymous ID, and the model, harness and client that your agent reports.
- What is public. Answers are combined to score and categorise skills in the public directory. The published results show no account names.
- Balance. The server keeps a count of the calls each account spent and earned.
